Dear High School Drama Instructor:

Please join us this year for our newly developed Annual FCC Theatre Festival! Our festival will take place on March 8, 2017 from approximately 8:30am-4:00pm. We are happy to present you with our new, streamlined program.

Please note that our fax number has changed to: 559-499-6044

Here’s the info:

One Fee

$250 per school includes all activities in our day long Theatre Program. There are ten openings for schools on a first come, first served basis.

Each school is given one scene entry slot in both the Contemporary and Classical scene arenas. Theatre Arts faculty will judge all performances. Each scene is given a 15-minute slot for performance (including setup and teardown). There is not a limit on scene participants. Theatre Faculty will give a critical response to each performance.

Tech Olympics

A Tech Team of four students from each school will compete in four event areas: Costume Quick Change, Lighting Focus, Prop Quick Change and “Sew On A Button”.

Other Activities

  • FCC Student Actors Workshops: such as “What’s My Type?” Learn something new about the way you might be seen through the eyes of a casting director!
  • We will host Improv Open Play where 10 schools can sign up to take the stage with their Improv group. This is not a competition-based activity.
  • At 2pm we invite all schools to a special performance of our FCC production of Dr. Seuss’s Cat in the Hat directed by Janine Christl.

At 3pm we give out awards including but not limited to: 1st and 2nd place scenes in contemporary and classical style, Best Actor and Actress in a scene, Tech Olympic Prize and up to 3 scholarships to attend FCC in the Fall of 2016 ($400 each).

This year all of our festival forms will be found online at:

Students can compete in both “Classical” and “Contemporary” scenes but cannot also be in the Tech portion, as the times will overlap. Scholarship Forms have been updated and must be completed prior to the festival. It now includes an instructor nomination and student questionnaire. Please print copies out for your deserving students that may be attending FCC in the Fall of 2017.

Registration forms and fee must be returned no later than Dec. 2nd.

This year we will only accept the schools that provide full information packets and registration fees by the due date.

Please email or mail your forms (and fee) to the address listed online. The spots will be filled on a “first come, first served” basis and we can only accommodate 10 schools. When we receive your registration fee by mail you will be emailed final registration and participation information (including performance times).

This year’s festival coordinators are Janine Christl and Chuck Erven. If you have questions, please call 442-4600 ext 8041.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Yours Sincerely,
Janine Christl
