Lane Closures on McKinley Avenue between Effie Street and Blackstone Avenue for
Water Pipeline Construction
May 12, 2017
During the week of May 15, Fresno City College traffic should use Clinton Avenue to access the Fresno City College campus. Due to construction activities, McKinley Avenue is currently closed to westbound traffic between Effie Street and Blackstone Avenue. City College traffic will experience extreme delays on Effie Street and Peralta Avenue, so please be advised to follow posted detour routes.
From Highway 41 or Highway 168: Use Clinton Avenue to access Fresno City College.
From Interstate 180: Use Blackstone Avenue to access Fresno City College. Westbound traffic on McKinley Avenue at Blackstone Avenue will be permitted through Monday, May 29.
Please be advised that additional construction is anticipated on McKinley Avenue through fall 2017. Floyd Johnston Construction Company, Inc., is constructing the Regional Transmission Mains (RTMs), a large-diameter drinking water pipeline on Olive Avenue, from First to Fresno streets, on Fresno Street, from Olive to McKinley avenues, on McKinley Avenue from Fresno Street to Palm Avenue, and on Palm Avenue from McKinley Avenue to H Street. The contractor will implement strict traffic control and safety measures, including flaggers and detour routes to streamline traffic flow as much as possible, while maintaining safety for everyone. Vehicle traffic through the road closure will be limited, but businesses will remain open. Please pay attention to all posted signage and detour routes.
This project is part of the City of Fresno’s Recharge Fresno Program to improve the pipeline and water system facilities that will capture, treat and deliver water to Fresno homes and businesses, including surface water from the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
