Fresno City College is committed to the success of its students by providing an environment conducive to teaching and learning. To insure that every student takes full advantage of the educational opportunities, the college has implemented a student success program supported through an Early Alert System.
The goal of the Early Alert System is to work with students individually and assist in a success plan that aides in overcoming any barrier to college success. EAS allows faculty to be proactive, supportive, and involved in facilitating the academic components of student retention through early detention and intervention of students who are experiencing problems.

There are many reasons why a student might be referred to the Early Alert System. The Early Alert team works with students who have a range of academic and personal barriers that prevent them from being successful. Some of the most common reasons for submitting a student to EAS include
Excessive absences and/or tardiness
Has low test/quiz scores
Not completing homework assignments
Knowledge of personal or family difficulties (financial, death in the family, etc.)
Change in demeanor/ disruptive behavioral issues
The Early alert system works best when used early. Submission in the first 4 weeks of class are most likely to result in a successful outcome for your students. However, the Early Alert System remains open the entire semester as many students are confronted with challenges that require intervention at any point.
